Russian Scholar Laureate 2009-10

Congratulations to Tasha P. in Russian 6 AP, for being named GHS Russian Scholar Laureate for the 2009-10 school year. She has excelled in speaking, listening, reading, writing, culture and grammar during her 6 years studying the lanugage. Tasha was one of 52 students across the US to be given this award.

50 Years of Russian in Glastonbury

This year we enjoyed celebrating our 50th year of teaching Russian in Glastonbury. Students, parents, teachers, administrators and members of the community participated in many events throughout the year. Highlights included the Hartford Symphony's Russian concert at GHS, Yale Russian Chorus and Russian Bazaar, Baskin Robbins' ice cream menu in Russian, Russian Immersion Day at Gideon Welles, visiting professor from the University of Oklahoma, Russian movies at Welles Turner Library, Barynya dance group performance at Smith, Ballet Russes at the Wadsworth Aetheneum, Notes from the Underground at the Yale Rep Theater, Russian exchange program (see below), Glastonbury Russian Day, Russian exhibit and scavenger hunt at the Glastonbury Historical Society.
